## The case

- **The data is already public; the assembly is the cost.** Census, BLS and competitor data exist for every US city, but pulling them together for one idea in one place takes days by hand. Neur does it in minutes.
- **A number forces a decision.** A 0–100 score with a verdict is easier to act on than a folder of spreadsheets. The pillar breakdown tells you *why*, so you know what to fix or where to look instead.
- **It costs less than one bad month of rent.** A single report is $59.99. See [Getting started](https://www.neur.co/docs/getting-started).
- **It works as evidence.** The PDF is built to be attached to a bank or SBA loan application as the market research section.
- **It compares options.** Three credits let you run the same idea in three cities, or three ideas in one city, and read them side by side.

## The honest caveats

- **Scores are estimates, not predictions.** They are derived from public data and industry benchmarks. A high score does not guarantee success and a low score does not mean an idea cannot work with the right execution.
- **Public data lags.** ACS estimates are five-year averages and QCEW data is published quarterly with a delay. Fast-changing neighbourhoods may look different on the ground.
- **Competitor listings are imperfect.** Google Places is the best public source of competitors but can miss new openings or include closed businesses.
- **Startup costs are ranges by industry**, not quotes for your build-out. Use them for planning, then get real bids.
- **The Personal pillar is self-reported.** It reflects what you told us about your experience and commitment.
- **US only.** Neur does not cover markets outside the United States.

## When Neur is the wrong tool

If you already have a signed lease, a finished business plan and a loan, the research step is behind you. If you need a full written business plan, Neur gives you the evidence section, not the whole document.

## The principles behind the product

Data should be accessible. Confidence is earned, not given. The path matters as much as the idea. Read more on the [About page](https://www.neur.co/about).
